Things are not going well in the Netherlands because the land of orange turns red in the southern neighbors. A rising curve with about 8.000 infections on 192.000 tests in a week and the population ignoring the measures en masse. Belgians who are currently still in the Netherlands have until Friday at 16 pm to return. Those who return afterwards cannot escape the inexorable mandatory quarantine and a test.

Who still go to both Dutch provinces of North and South Holland wanting to leave is worth it, given a formal travel ban from Friday afternoon in Belgium, just as residents and visitors of Antwerp and Brussels have been quarantined for so long in the Netherlands.

“We want to hit the virus hard, but the economy and society as little as possible”, Minister of Health Hugo De Jonge said today.

On Friday evening, Prime Minister Mark Rutte will give a press conference in which he will announce stricter measures. It will be regional measures focused on the major cities in the west.

Amsterdam and Rotterdam

It bothers the Belgian media that the word 'one and a half meters society' has become established in the Netherlands and the word 'bubble' is completely unknown there. Healthy people are advised to avoid crowded places, sick people to stay at home. Mouth masks are not mandatory and a few weeks ago Amsterdam and Rotterdam dropped the mouth mask obligation.

Reason enough for the Belgians to place the lock on various Dutch provinces. According to De Jonge, the source of the infections mainly lies with the young people and the students. He explicitly mentioned the student houses and the catering industry is also slightly more prominent in terms of the number of infections.
