Ghent taxi drivers stopped their services on their own initiative in March and applied for the nuisance premium. Due to the disappearance of the Ghent restaurants and hotels on which they depend and the transport to the various airports that had dried up completely, working through the corona crisis was no longer an option.

V-Tax, the largest taxi company in Ghent, also decided to stop operating its taxis, making it one of the first to stop its services due to the corona crisis. The main reason was because of the limited space in a taxi. Despite this space has not changed, Ghent's V-Tax is one of the first companies to resume its services. According to manager Koen Van Cauwenberge, this only concerns journeys with an essential displacement.
