Electric cycling is becoming increasingly popular. Last year, more than 400 thousand e-bikes were produced in the Netherlands sold. Market leader Stella announced today that it is bringing the 'company bicycle' even closer with its new BikeProject. Employers, employees and bicycle repairers react enthusiastically.

If you live 15 or even 30 kilometers from work, getting on a bicycle is often too much of an effort. However, you can travel this distance on an e-bike without any problems. With a purchase price of at least 1000 euros, such a fine electric bicycle is still an investment for most people. Leasing via the employer can then be a solution.

Lease arrangement makes e-bike attractive

The cabinet is making it increasingly attractive to lease an (electric) bicycle * ². Not only to reduce congestion, but also for the environment and the health of the employee. From January 1, 2020, tax is payable on 7% of the suggested retail price. “For the employee, a top model e-bike of 3.000 euros costs less than ten euros a month * ³. That is cheaper than Netflix ”, says Johan Makaske, spokesman for BikeProject.

Tight labor market

The economy is on the rise and the labor market is getting tighter. And that in more and more sectors. There are hardly any candidates for nearly half of all vacancies in the Netherlands * ⁴. Companies are therefore looking for ways to retain good employees. An (e-) bike from the company as a secondary employment condition will certainly help with this, according to BikeProject.

Research TNO

Employers benefit from employees who come to the office by bicycle. TNO research * ⁵ already showed ten years ago that regular cycling to work can lead to 15% less absenteeism. The employer also distinguishes himself in the social field. Doing more for the climate also means looking at the environmental footprint that employees leave behind in traffic.

BikeProject focuses on employers and employees: “Companies would like their employees to come to the business by bicycle, but they are not waiting for red tape. We take that off your hands completely. Employers can register with us. Employees then choose an (electric) bicycle of their choice, simply from their own bicycle dealer ”.

Freedom

BikeProject offers complete freedom for employees. They can choose any brand and type of e-bike or regular bicycle. You can do this online or at an affiliated bicycle repair shop nearby. “And of course at one of the more than 40 Stella E-bike Test Centers across the country,” says Makaske.
