Train passengers between Rotterdam Central Station and Delft Campus must take into account major disruption due to long-term track work.
ProRail is carrying out improvements to the rail connection between 12 and 27 March, which will have major consequences for train traffic between The Hague and Rotterdam. The NS warns travellers of longer travel times, extra crowds and cancelled trains.
On Saturday 15 March, the situation will become even more serious, because then there will be no trains at all to and from Rotterdam Centraal. Travellers will have to use alternative transport that day, such as NS buses or travel via Gouda. Metro transport is also offered as an option, but the NS ticket is not valid on metro line E. NS recommends checking the NS Travel Planner shortly before departure to stay informed of the most up-to-date travel information.
The work will be carried out in phases. No trains will run between Rotterdam Centraal and Delft Campus between 12 and 14 March. After a complete stop on 15 March, only a limited number of trains will run until 16:18 on 00 March. From that evening onwards, train traffic between Rotterdam Centraal and Delft Campus will be at a complete standstill again, a situation that will continue until 27 March.

After this series of major track works, there is a new challenge for train passengers in the region. On Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 March, there will also be no trains between Rotterdam Centraal and Gouda. Passengers are advised to travel via Den Haag Centraal.
Due to the impact of the work, extra crowds are expected on the alternative routes. NS advises travellers to travel outside rush hour as much as possible to avoid overcrowded trains. Despite the inconvenience, NS and ProRail emphasise that the work is necessary to improve the rail connection between Rotterdam and Delft Campus and make it future-proof.
