InnoTrans 2024, the largest international trade fair for transport technology, is this year focusing on the future of public transport with the latest generation of buses.

The Bus Display, a permanent fixture at the event, offers an impressive presentation of the most advanced buses and infrastructure, with sustainability and innovation as the central focus. This year, the Bus Display is attracting extra attention with the participation of prominent international manufacturers, including some newcomers to the event. The Bus Display, located in the Summer Garden of the Berlin Exhibition Grounds, offers a platform where transport companies and associations can admire the latest bus models.

Chinese BYD

On a specially constructed 500-metre circuit, these buses will not only be on static display but can also be seen in action. These demonstration runs allow manufacturers to demonstrate the capabilities of their vehicles live, providing a unique insight into the performance and capabilities of the latest technologies. One of the biggest draws this year is the first participation of China’s BYD, the world’s largest car manufacturer, which will be presenting three electric buses: the BYD B12, B13 and B18. With a range of up to 600 kilometres and innovative features such as the self-developed blade battery chassis, these buses set a new standard for electric urban transport. BYD has already delivered more than 81.000 electric buses worldwide, making it a pioneer in e-mobility.

The Dutch Ebusco is also attracting attention with its Ebusco 3.0, the lightest e-bus in its class. Thanks to a body made of composite materials, this bus weighs only 9950 kilograms and consumes only 0,65 kWh per kilometer. With a range of up to 700 kilometers and a lifespan of 25 years, the Ebusco 3.0 offers a sustainable and cost-efficient solution for urban transport. The integrated batteries in the flat floor and the possibility to use the roof for solar energy make this bus one of the most innovative vehicles on the market.

Another notable participant is Hungarian bus manufacturer Ikarus, which is present at InnoTrans for the first time. Ikarus, with over 125 years of experience, is presenting two electric buses: the Ikarus 120e and the Ikarus Midi bus. Both models are designed for emission-free public transport and are equipped with the latest charging current collectors from Siemens, which enables seamless integration of charging solutions.

In addition to the prominent bus manufacturers, there are also exhibitors focusing on supporting technologies and infrastructure. Ventura Systems, a leading manufacturer of door systems for urban transport, will present its latest innovations in safety and comfort. Their “Seal” door system concept and the new design for door panels promise a significant improvement in ease of use and protection for passengers.

Mont-Ele, an Italian specialist in electrical and automation systems, introduces at Bus Display its latest charging system for electric buses. With over 40 years of experience, Mont-Ele offers tailor-made solutions for the integration of charging infrastructure in public transport.

The Bus Display will not only showcase the latest vehicles and technologies, but will also provide a platform for debate on the future of public transport. On 26 September, industry experts will come together at the International Bus Forum and the Public Transport Forum to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the transition to sustainable mobility.

With established names and innovative newcomers present, the Bus Display at InnoTrans 2024 promises to play a crucial role in the evolution of public transport. This exhibition shows how technology, innovation and sustainability go hand in hand in the development of tomorrow's mobility.
