Dinner Train cancels all rides for 2024 and victims are still waiting for their money.

Dinner Train from Oisterwijk, known for its unique concept of dining in a moving train through the Dutch countryside, has been declared bankrupt. This news comes after the company had been in trouble for a long time and could not respond to refunds for bookings that they themselves had cancelled. The bankruptcy marks the second time that the company has had to close its doors, and this time the future of Dinner Train seems even more uncertain than before.

The mobile restaurant, which departed from various cities in the Netherlands, offered its guests a special experience on board historic dining cars. However, technical problems forced the company to cancel several trips a few weeks ago. Customers affected by these cancellations were given three options: moving their booking to a new date, receiving a voucher to rebook at a later date, or requesting a voucher for a later refund. Unfortunately, these options turned out to be just a sweetener for many customers, as the promised refunds were not honored.

The news of the bankruptcy was quickly followed by an outcry and indignation among the affected customers. Many of them had already paid in advance for their planned ride, and now that the company is bankrupt, the chance that they will ever see their money back seems slim. The management of Dinner Train had previously indicated that the refunds would take time, but this statement was received with a certain amount of skepticism, especially given the financial problems the company had been in for some time.

not the first

This bankruptcy is not the first in the history of Dinner Train. The current owner was also involved in the previous bankruptcy of the company, which makes the current situation all the more bitter for the customers who had placed their trust in the company. The repeated financial difficulties and the inability to pay back customers on time raise serious questions about the management and the viability of the business model.

Although there is speculation about a possible restart, it is very questionable whether customers will still be prepared to pay in advance for a service that has already proven twice that it cannot meet its obligations. The negative publicity surrounding the bankruptcy and the disappointed customers who express their frustrations on social media have severely damaged the image of Dinner Train.

Dinner Train’s customers and employees had previously largely lost faith in the company. On social media, affected customers openly expressed their frustration and accused the company of ripping off unsuspecting guests. Some even called for legal action to get their money back. The situation is exacerbated by the lack of communication from Dinner Train, leading to speculation about the future of the company and whether the company will ever deliver on its promises.
