The new four-star hotel Inntel Hotels Den Haag Marina Beach, located on the beach road in Scheveningen, offers guests a breathtaking view of the sea and the peaceful surroundings of the harbor.

Staying at this luxurious hotel evokes mixed reactions from some guests. One of the most discussed points is the lack of its own parking facility, which many consider a missed opportunity. Although the location is beautiful and quiet, the hotel has been criticized for the way mobility is arranged.

A point of attention is the limited accessibility of the hotel, as there are no direct public transport options that can take guests to the hotel. The only option for guests without their own transportation is to take a taxi, which may be an additional inconvenience for some, especially if they would prefer to use public transportation.

In contrast to the Kurhaus, which has its own parking lot and is adjacent to the Kurhaus parking lot, and the Carlton Beach hotel, which also has its own parking lot near the Zwarte Pad, Inntel Hotels The Hague Marina Beach has to make do with only a few parking spaces. for disabled people.

Park

One of the most noticeable inconveniences that visitors experience is the distance between the hotel and the nearest parking facility. The Q-Park on the Strandweg, although well equipped with electric charging points and with a reasonable rate of 20 euros per day at reserve in advance, is still a few minutes away from the hotel.

The lack of private parking facility leads to guests, especially during rainy days, complaining about the inconvenience of having to walk with luggage. For a hotel that profiles itself as a luxury residence, this is seen by many as a clear shortcoming.

municipality?

In a response, the Municipality of The Hague stated that they understand that the parking situation at the hotel can be difficult for some visitors. “Unfortunately, there is no possibility to park directly in front of the door, and this will not change after the redevelopment. However, visitors can use the nearby parking garage on Strandweg. Regarding specific parking facilities, the responsibility lies with the hotel itself. The municipality takes care of the general infrastructure, but providing specific parking solutions for the hotel falls outside our range of tasks.”

"Isn't a blue zone part of the general infrastructure? It would be wonderful to arrive at a good joint solution, as long as the will is there."

Stephan Koelemans, General Manager of Inntel Hotels The Hague Marina Beach, emphasizes that the redesign of the Strandweg will take some time and that the appearance of the Strandweg currently leaves much to be desired.

stop zone

According to Koelemans, the hotel has clearly indicated that there is a need for a proper stopping zone where guests can get in and out with their luggage. “There is enough space to create a blue zone, for example, where the maximum parking time can be 15 minutes. That would solve a lot of problems. But instead, ten parking spaces have now been cordoned off with concrete blocks. It doesn't look good and it's a waste of the possibilities that are there," says Koelemans.

He adds that a turning loop could also offer a solution, creating a natural flow. “Cars are currently getting stuck en masse on the dead-end part of the Strandweg, which in turn leads to unsafe situations.” According to Koelemans, these ideas and solutions have been raised several times with various parties, but unfortunately no progress has been made yet.

valet parking

A possible solution to this inconvenience could be to offer valet parking, a service in which hotel employees park and pick up guests' cars. This would not only alleviate the parking problem but also improve the overall experience for the guests. By introducing a valet service, the hotel can respond to the needs of its guests, eliminating the inconvenience of walking with luggage in bad weather conditions. Unfortunately, this service is not currently offered, which many guests feel is a missed opportunity for a hotel of this caliber.

Shiromani Westerveld – Baldew, Rooms Division Manager at Inntel Hotels The Hague Marina Beach, responds to our suggestion: “In the first years we had a pleasant collaboration with an external company, which allowed us to offer a valet parking service. However, due to our successful collaboration with Qpark Strandweg, we have decided to terminate this service.”

Guests who walk with their suitcases from the Q-Park garage to the hotel reception illustrate the lack of their own parking facility.

The hotel, which stands out as a landmark on the boulevard with its iconic architecture, also offers 226 rooms with views of the sea, the beach and the harbor. The Inntel Hotels Marina Beach The Hague is part of the Inntel Hotels chain, a Dutch family business with branches in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Zaandam, Eindhoven and Utrecht. The unique location and beautiful views make the hotel undeniably attractive, but the above-mentioned criticisms prevent some guests from describing their stay as perfect.

Between the Vissershavenweg and the hotel, the Strandweg recently received a new parking garage with 750 public parking spaces and 90 parking spaces. This parking garage replaces an old dune, which has been partially excavated and will be replaced in the form of a natural and accessible dune. This project, in which new tourist and cultural functions are also being created, should make the area more attractive to visitors.

Another area for improvement concerns waiting times at check-in. For a new and modern hotel like it Inntel Hotels Marina Beach In The Hague you would expect the check-in procedure to go smoothly. However, some guests note that they sometimes have to wait longer times at the reception, which can affect their first impression of the stay. While these criticisms are made, it is important to emphasize that reviews are rarely, if ever, entirely positive, and waiting times at reception can be a challenge for any hotel, regardless of location and modern facilities.

Shiromani Westerveld – Baldew emphasizes that the hotel strives every day to optimize and improve quality and guest orientation. “Because we are currently in the high season, there is a lot of extra information that we want to give our guests. This may result in check-in times taking longer than guests are used to.”

time slot

In addition, the strict time limit for breakfast has provoked mixed reactions. Guests seeking a luxurious experience, especially in the more expensive wellness suites, may find it restrictive to have breakfast within a fixed 45-minute time slot. The hotel defends this measure as a way to improve service and provide an optimal experience for all guests. While this policy is intended to ensure efficiency and hospitality, it is causing resistance from some guests, especially those who prefer to enjoy breakfast at their own pace.

While there is certainly room for refinement, Inntel Hotels remains committed to providing guests with a high-quality experience. Addressing practical issues such as valet parking and more flexible breakfast times could further improve the guest experience. Nevertheless, it must be recognized that it is difficult to meet all expectations in a hotel that focuses on luxury and comfort.
