The municipality of Zandvoort is busy every year to prepare the village for this major event that attracts more than 100.000 visitors per day every year.

In August it will be that time again, Formula 1 is coming to Zandvoort. On August 25, 26 and 27, thousands of race fans can indulge themselves during the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix. During these three days there will be plenty to do on the Zandvoort Circuit from early in the morning to late at night, from races to the best performances by artists. The municipality of Zandvoort is busy every year to prepare the village for this major event that attracts more than 100.000 visitors per day every year. This year, according to the municipality of Zandvoort, a number of things will be different from previous years.

To ensure that normal life can continue as much as possible during the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix, the Board recently took a number of decisions that should guarantee the quality of life, safety and accessibility of Zandvoort. A mobility plan is drawn up every year to ensure safe and effective traffic flows. The mobility plan has been drawn up by the organization of the Dutch Grand Prix (DGP) in collaboration and/or in consultation with all stakeholders and official partners involved.

The mobility plan is based on the STOMP principle. STOMP stands for Steps, Stairs, Public Transport, Mobility As A Service and Passenger Cars. This principle is the translation of the DGP's sustainability ambition for the mobility component. The mobility plan has the following spearheads:

  • Spread of visitor flows.
  • The creation of temporary overnight stays in Zandvoort and/or the immediate vicinity is the basis of success;
  • The train is the key to success.
  • The bicycle is the signboard.
  • Organized bus transport.
  • Discouragement policy for visitors with a car.
  • Realization of a car-free area.
  • Aim for as little nuisance as possible for residents and businesses of both Zandvoort and surrounding municipalities.

This year, various roads in and around Zandvoort will be temporarily closed.

This year, various roads in and around Zandvoort will be temporarily closed. The level crossings at Haltestraat/ Vondellaan and at Lennepweg will also be constantly closed during and just before the race days. Parking in Zandvoort will also be different these days. A number of examples of this are, for example, that residents do not register visitors via the 'Parkstart system'. Parking areas will be made unavailable and recreational vehicle parking restrictions will apply.

Scooters and light mopeds may only be parked in the designated parking facilities. It is also forbidden to carry drones or other objects that can be used as unmanned aerial vehicles. There is a temporary flight ban for drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles over Zandvoort. These and many other rules should ensure a pleasant, safe and accessible weekend during the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix Zandvoort.
