Traveling to school by bus or tram is efficient, safe and environmentally friendly, so that young people and their parents can opt for a sustainable and smart transport solution.

Throughout the month of September, students can test out De Lijn's network, thanks to the Buzzy Pazz trial subscription. With this campaign, De Lijn promotes safe and sustainable school traffic. The trial subscription can be requested via delijn.be/probeactie and is available for all students who start their first secondary education in September.

With this trial, De Lijn wants to introduce young people to the benefits of public transport. Traveling to school by bus or tram is efficient, safe and environmentally friendly, so that young people and their parents can opt for a sustainable and smart transport solution. Parents and young people can find more information about this offer on delijn.be/probeeractie. De Lijn also provides the information to primary schools so that they can also inform their students.

A sustainable choice

If parents opt for the trial subscription, they immediately contribute to a better climate. Because one full bus means dozens of cars less on the road. So that is a sustainable choice. Trying out the subscription costs nothing. Parents only have to register their son or daughter before August 17, 2023 with their child's national register number. They do that delijn.be/probeactie and then De Lijn will send you the trial subscription.

"Going to the first secondary school is a big step for many young people. This is often also a time when transport choices have to be made again. With the trial campaign, we introduce young people from the first secondary school to public transport in Flanders and the advantages of a Buzzy Pazz, the youth subscription. A journey by bus or tram to school is efficient, safe and contributes to a better climate."

“The action encourages young people to use public transport and contribute to a sustainable future. It is an ideal way to facilitate their journeys and to motivate them to make even more use of the extensive range of public transport in Flanders."

This is the sixth time that De Lijn is organizing this campaign for first-year secondary education. Last year, 8066 applications for trial subscriptions were received and 57% of the applicants bought a Buzzy Pazz subscription after the campaign ended. The trial subscription applies from Friday 1 September to Saturday 30 September 2023 and gives the young person unlimited access to the bus and tram, on school days and during the weekend (except on the Limburg express lines).

Some useful tips

  • Map out your journey.

Since 1 January 2023, De Lijn, together with the Flemish government and the municipalities or cities, has been working on a new mobility vision in various phases. A new phase will start on July 1. The new network may also have an impact on the journey to school. Parents can map out their child's journey from 15 June via delijn.be/nieuwenet.

  • Plan a carefree ride with the app.

The De Lijn app is the ideal guide that makes traveling easy. For example, the students on the road can count on numerous useful features, such as the step-off warnings, according to the Flemish transport company.
