The SS Rotterdam, usually called “de Rotterdam”, was built at the request of the Holland-America Line (HAL).

As a former flagship of the Holland-America Line and cruise ship, the SS Rotterdam has sailed many seas since 1959. The ship is now permanently moored in the Maashaven in Rotterdam, near Katendrecht. The accessibility of the SS Rotterdam is good. The car is one of the best and easiest means of getting to the ship. From the A16 motorway you can drive to the ship in 10 minutes. With 580 parking spaces on the quay, you always have a spot in front of the door of the SS Rotterdam. Parking costs €3,10 per hour or €15,50 per day. With a day ticket you can enter and exit as a guest without any restrictions. The car park also has charging points for electric vehicles.

From Rotterdam Central Station, metros D and E in the direction of Slinge or De Akkers stop at the Rijnhaven metro station. There you change to bus 77 with the ss Rotterdam as the final stop. The bus stop is opposite the ship.

Missed bus 77 at Rijnhaven metro station? Then get on the free ss Rotterdam Shuttle bus. It commutes at fixed times between the Rijnhaven metro station and the ship. The shuttle runs Monday through Thursday from 08:00 AM to 11:30 AM and from 15:00 PM to 18:30 PM. From Friday to Sunday, the shuttle runs between 08:30 and 19:00.

water bus

Of course you can discover Rotterdam and its surrounding Maas cities with the Waterbus. For only €1, you can take line 18 from the ss Rotterdam to Heijplaat-RDM or the foot of the Erasmus Bridge.

Another way to reach the ss Rotterdam is by water taxi. The crashing waves, the splashing water of the Maas, the wind in your face. With an express train you can skim over the water with the Watertaxi to the center of Rotterdam. Fast and cheap. Adults pay €4,50 per person and children €2,50 per child for a single journey. The water taxi departs from the pontoon on the B-Deck.
