See and feel that you are not alone on May 1 and that there is solidarity on Labor Day.

Simone is a care taxi driver and, like her colleagues, sees the impact of inflation on her bank account. More and more often, the month is not over yet, but the salary is already gone. That is why she is coming to Amsterdam on 1 May. “We have reached the point where we say: enough is enough. It's done," says Simone.

indispensable

Inflation is rising, the workload is increasing and wages have been well behind for years. This does not only apply to care taxi drivers, but to a large group of working Dutch people. “While we are really indispensable to this country,” says Simone. “If we stop working, the whole country will be in turmoil. That's how important our work is. But the people who work hard to keep the economy going must also be able to build a decent life. It can and must be better. That is why we stand up for the rights of all workers on Labor Day. All professional groups have the same problems and must unite.”

manifest

“In my professional group it is difficult to manifest yourself as a group. We start and end at different times and everyone is in their own car, but the togetherness is really starting to come now. This will be my first celebration on May 1, where I will come together with many colleagues. I call on everyone to come. Then you see and feel that you are not alone. And that there is solidarity. That's why that day is so important. We are all doing it together.”

From bus drivers to sales staff in the Bijenkorf and from taxi drivers to healthcare providers in hospitals: in all kinds of places people are campaigning for a living wage, respect and justice.

“The employers fill their pockets and turn a deaf ear. The more people are there on May 1, the more employers will have to listen to us. Whether they like it or not. That's why we must come together. We must fight, struggle and manifest. Not only for ourselves, but also for the younger generation. So that they get better and don't have to fight like we are fighting now. They also deserve a fair chance in this society.”

Simone calls on you to make your voice heard on Labor Day and, just like her, to come to Amsterdam on 1 May for the action march in the Martin Luther King Park. “On Monday, May 1, we will gather in Amsterdam to fight for a better Netherlands.”
