RTHA expects approximately 12.000 flights this summer season. This is 4% less than in the summer season of 2022.

The summer season at Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTHA) has started. There will be fewer flights this season, which runs until October 28, compared to last summer season. The flights will also be more evenly distributed over the months.

RTHA expects approximately 12.000 flights this summer season. This is 4% less than in the summer season of 2022. Due to a higher occupancy rate (more passengers on board), approximately 1.6 million passengers are expected to travel via RTHA this summer, just like last year.

In 2022, due to corona, unused slots were transferred from the winter season to the summer season. This caused a large peak in the months of July and August, in which 4.314 commercial aircraft movements took place. This year no transfer took place because the slots could be used normally in the winter (no corona restrictions). RTHA therefore expects a regular summer season, with 3.870 flights in the months of July and August, which is 10% less than last year.

In addition to operating scheduled flights, RTHA is also the official alternate airport for flights that have Schiphol as their destination. If unforeseen circumstances such as weather or calamities prevent the flights from landing at Schiphol, they will divert to RTHA.
