It is the tourists who perpetuate this cruel cycle. Those who pay to ride animals directly contribute to their suffering.

Director ANVR Frank Oostdam leaves via Twitter know better not to ride a camel at your holiday destination. Just like better but not riding elephants. “There is simply too much animal abuse,” says Oostdam.

Oostdam's statement follows the shocking images from PETA that show how the animals often have a hard time between rides. Despite Oostdam's statement, many affiliated members of the trade association ANVR sell camel rides as part of tourist attractions or excursions.

Luxor city is characterized by camel rides, which are one of the most enjoyable and fun excursions. A one hour journey where you enjoy the camel and sail in inches.

At the infamous Birqash camel market, Egypt's largest, PETA has Asia again video footage obtained from the horrific mistreatment of camels that are sold for meat, farm work or use on tourist sites. Camels are a popular attraction for tourists visiting countries such as Egypt. Unfortunately, the practice of camel riding is often associated with animal cruelty and exploitation. The treatment of camels in tourist resorts such as Egypt is often shocking and unacceptable.

In many cases, camels are used for long treks across the desert, often without adequate rest or nourishment. The animals are forced to carry heavy loads and often the saddles are inappropriate, causing painful pressure points and wounds. In addition, camels are often beaten and kicked in order to remain obedient to their handlers. These practices need to be addressed. Tourists also need to be made more aware of the impact their activities have on animal welfare.

In many cases, camels are used for long treks across the desert, often without adequate rest or nourishment.

Alternatives such as donkey walks, cycling or walking should be promoted instead of camel riding. Also, travel companies should be encouraged to work only with recognized companies that treat the animals well.

In short, the practice of camel riding and the treatment of camels in the tourism industry in countries such as Egypt is troubling and needs to be addressed. It is important that the tourism sector takes responsibility for animal welfare and promotes alternatives that do not harm the animals.
