An intercity and a freight train both hit a construction crane, causing the intercity to derail.

A passenger train derailed near Voorschoten in the night from Monday to Tuesday around 03.30:XNUMX a.m. and an employee of construction company BAM was killed. It is still unclear how the train accident happened. ProRail and the Dutch Safety Board are now investigating this. At the time of the serious train accident, a team of construction company BAM was working on the two southern tracks at Voorschoten station.

This morning around 3.25 am an accident occurred with a passenger train towards The Hague near Voorschoten (Geestwoningpad). There were about 50 people in the passenger train. 1 person died in the accident. There are about 30 injured, of which 11 people are being cared for in surrounding homes. Seriously injured people are taken to surrounding hospitals. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

During the press conference about the train accident at Voorschoten, mayor Nadine Stemerdink took the floor and indicated that the impact is significant.
