In terms of maintenance and repairs, Qbuzz can again count on OMNIplus partner Wensink.

Between 2024 and 2026, no fewer than 158 new zero-emission buses will enter the provinces of Groningen and Drenthe. Daimler Buses is supplying a total of 35 Mercedes-Benz eCitaros. CEO Joost van der Bijl of Daimler Buses from Nijkerk is very proud of this first large public transport order in the Netherlands and says that the eCitaro is now represented throughout Western Europe.

Daimler is one of three manufacturers for whom carrier Qbuzz and concessionaire OV-bureau Groningen Drenthe have chosen. The manufacturer supplies 25 articulated eCitaros for the regional service and 10 articulated eCitaros for the city service (Qlink lines) equipped with the NMC3 batteries with an energy capacity of 490 kWh. The buses for regional transport have the charging plug at the rear and the Qlink-equipped buses have, in addition to the plug, also a charging option via the pantograph for fast charging.

Due to the corona crisis new tenders postponed in recent years and that means that many new concessions are just around the corner. Van der Bijl and Meppelink therefore expect that more customers will opt for the eCitaro.

“We have long claimed that we have a high-quality product. Now the customers will also experience this, so that fills us with pride. I am sure more concessions will follow.”

In terms of maintenance and repairs, Qbuzz can again count on OMNIplus partner Wensink. OMNIplus ON will strive for optimized workshop management and even better vehicle availability through vehicle and data analysis. Both men are convinced that the experiences that Qbuzz will gain in Groningen and Drenthe are a good harbinger for the future.
