Transport in Zeeland is going to change. From 2025, travelers in Zeeland will be able to choose from an ideal mix of (public) means of transport (small and large), boarding points where you can wait comfortably and use smart apps with which trips can be planned, booked and paid for at the same time. Good pick-up points for travelers are an important part of the new plan. To realize the pick-up points, the Province of Zeeland has opened up a subsidy scheme for Zeeland municipalities.

Transport from 2025

The current transport system is no longer up to date. Buses run empty for large parts of the day and little public transport is available at weekends and in the evenings. That is why transport in Zeeland will change from 2025. In the new transport plan, in addition to the train, boat and bus, more flexible transport is available, such as the flex taxi and shared initiatives. Due to the use of more flexible and partial transport, the quieter areas are more accessible, also in the evenings and weekends. The big bus as we know it now will be a fast bus. This bus will make fewer stops at quieter places.

Boarding points

All forms of transport come together at the various boarding points (also referred to as mobility hubs) that are being realized in Zeeland. From the hubs, travelers in Zeeland can board the means of transport that suits their journey. These are also places where travelers can transfer, park their bicycle or wait a while.

Turn on together

The municipalities and the province are jointly responsible for this. In the Regional Mobility Strategy broad agreements have been made about the locations and functionalities of the hubs. To stimulate the realization of the pick-up points, the Province has opened the second round of the subsidy scheme. From March 27 to October 31, 2023, it is possible for Zeeland municipalities to apply for a subsidy for the realization of mobility hubs, according to the Province of Zeeland.
