Extinction Rebellion calls on March 25, 2023 to come to the Eindhoven Airport location.

According to the Extinction Rebellion (ER) climate activists, Eindhoven Airport does not have everything in order and the real story is not being told. In addition to all the air pollution, noise nuisance and health damage that Eindhoven Airport causes, they also do not have their nature permit for civil aviation in order. Extinction Rebellion, ordinary people from all corners of the country and of all ages who are deeply concerned about the climate and environmental crisis, call up to come to the Eindhoven Airport Boulevard location on Saturday 25 March 2023 to take action.

ER has five requirements for Eindhoven Airport. Stop polluting, cancel unnecessary flights, tell the honest story, follow legal climate rules and fly for a fair price. You can easily get there by bus on Saturday because buses 400 and 401 from CS Eindhoven drive directly to the airport. There is a bicycle shed at the bus station under the parking garage right in front of the departure and arrival hall. And we are looking into whether an extra temporary parking facility can be installed before the 25th.

Whether Eindhoven Airport should grow is a subject of discussion. The expansion of Eindhoven Airport can boost the region's economy by attracting more businesses and tourists, which in turn can lead to more employment and investment. Growth of the airport can lead to better national and international connections, making it easier for travelers to travel to and from Eindhoven. A larger Eindhoven Airport can take over part of Schiphol's traffic and thus contribute to a better distribution of aviation in the Netherlands.

Expansion of the airport can lead to an increase in noise pollution, air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, which can have negative consequences for the environment and the living conditions of local residents. The growth of the airport may place an additional burden on existing infrastructure, such as roads and public transport, which may necessitate investments in these facilities. In the context of global efforts to combat climate change, promoting growth in the aviation sector can be seen as a step in the wrong direction, as aviation is a significant source of CO2 emissions.
