Member of Parliament Gidi Markuszower wonders why asylum seekers cannot simply take public transport?

State Secretary Eric Van der Burg (JenV) postpones answering parliamentary questions about transporting asylum seekers by taxi. Member of Parliament Gidi Markuszower (PVV) had asked the State Secretary for Justice and Security questions about transporting asylum seekers by taxi.

Markuszower not only wonders whether the transport of asylum seekers to and from asylum seekers' centers is an issue, but he also wants an answer to the question of whether it is true that these taxi rides are paid for by the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) and, therefore, ultimately will be borne by the Dutch taxpayer?

Markuszower wonders why asylum seekers can't just take public transport, just like most Dutch people who have to go to school or work? The Member of Parliament finds it ridiculous that many Dutch people have to travel by bicycle or public transport in bad weather, while asylum seekers can travel for free and in luxury by taxi. State Secretary Eric Van der Burg has indicated that he cannot answer the questions within the usual period, as not all the necessary information has yet been received.
