A pilot project was recently started in Flanders whereby vehicle owners, in addition to the green reminder card, are also digitally informed that they must present their vehicle for periodic inspection. “Our aim is to make it faster and easier for everyone to make an appointment at the car inspection. To make this possible, GOCA Flanders and the sector are rolling out a number of action points. Last year, among other things, the online appointment system was extended to two months and the capacity of the call centers was additionally strengthened. This digital invitation is another concrete initiative to improve the service.”

Additional services

GOCA Vlaanderen, the sector federation for car inspection and driving license examinations, and the inspection companies are starting a pilot project. From now on, citizens will also receive a digital invitation for the car inspection via eBox. Customers receive the digital invitation in addition to the green reminder card, which is delivered to their mailbox a few weeks before the expiry date of the test certificate. The first invitations were recently sent out via eBox. This digital reminder is an extra service to the customer and is part of the Action Plan Car Inspection of GOCA Flanders and the inspection companies, which aims to increase customer satisfaction. If this pilot project goes well, the intention is to roll out this working method for the whole of Flanders.

At least 3.000 digital invitations have recently been sent out every working day. These messages will reach the customer about two weeks before the green reminder cards. Customers are reminded even faster that they have to present their vehicle for an inspection. The condition is that citizens have an active eBox. The advantage of eBox is that a signal is sent back to the car inspection so that it knows who is an active user of eBox. When the customer has linked his/her eBox to My Citizen Profile, he will also receive the invitation via that channel.

Plan your visit to the inspection in time

GOCA Vlaanderen and the Flemish government would like to call on citizens once again not to wait until the last minute to plan a visit to the car inspection. You can already drive your vehicle for a periodic inspection from 2 months before the reference date on the inspection certificate, while retaining that date. This way your vehicle is always in order, which is important for your own safety, road safety and the environment. Moreover, you immediately avoid a possible surcharge for a late inspection or a fine for expired inspection certificate, according to it Department of Mobility and Public Works.
