The average second-hand price in the Netherlands also rose to a new record in December. The average price of a used car was €25.215 last month. That is an increase of 1,7% compared to a month earlier and 16% higher than last year in December. This trend actually continued last month and a second-hand car is now offered in the Netherlands for an average of €25.215.
Used car prices in Europe
But it is not only in the Netherlands that average prices for a second-hand car have risen. With the exception of Italy and Austria, where the used car price fell slightly last month, prices in Germany, Belgium and France also rose to a new record last month. Looking at the figures from January to December of this year, all countries in Europe show a clear increase. Compared to the other markets, the highest price was recorded in France at the end of 2022 (€30.322 euros), but the Netherlands saw the largest percentage price increase in Europe (+16%).

But this does not mean that there is now no supply at all for the Dutch with a smaller wallet.
