The 'air taxi' can take off and land vertically and can accommodate four passengers and the pilot.

Many companies are currently working on eVTOLs. We call them electric vehicles that can take off and land vertically, but they are actually more airplanes than cars. Stellantis and Archer are now joining forces to build Archer's Midnight eVTOL aircraft. Stellantis will bring advanced manufacturing technology, expertise, experienced personnel and capital to enable aircraft production. The goal is for Stellantis to mass-produce Archer's eVTOL aircraft as an exclusive contract manufacturer.

Stellantis NV and Archer Aviation Inc. announced the agreement to significantly expand their partnership by joining forces to produce Archer's Midnight eVTOL aircraft. With a range of more than 160 kilometers, the air taxi is extremely suitable for short flights where people are flown back and forth. Charging should only take about 10 minutes.

Midnight is designed to be safe, durable, quiet and with an expected payload of over 450 kilograms, it can carry four passengers plus a pilot. With this range, Midnight is optimal for short journeys with an intermediate charge time of approximately 10 minutes.

Car companies have recently been working more often with parties from the aviation sector. Earlier, Airbus and Audi also entered into a partnership and in November Renault entered into a partnership with aircraft manufacturer Airbus to develop a new generation of electric batteries and hybrid technology for cars and aircraft. The Chinese car brand Xpeng already held public test flights with its X2 flying car last year. The aircraft has room for two people and can, in addition to being controlled manually, also fly autonomously.
