The municipality of The Hague is starting a trial in which the entrepreneurs of the Denneweg can use a shared electric delivery van for two months. Use of the bus is free and use is coordinated via an app. In this way, it is being investigated how the transition to electric driving is going well and how shared mobility is experienced. This is necessary because The Hague must have emission-free city logistics in the city center by 2025.
From 1 January 2025, The Hague and 26 other municipalities in the Netherlands will have a zero-emission zone for city logistics. This means that logistics can only be done with zero-emission trucks and vans and in the most efficient way.
We want to focus strongly on the transition to emission-free transport in the city. This will result in a more liveable The Hague with clean air and less traffic in the city centre. I wholeheartedly welcome such initiatives.
Switch to zero-emission transport
2025 still seems a long way off, but for entrepreneurs it may mean that they will no longer be able to reach the Telderstracé within the center ring with their current vehicle. It is therefore good to think about the most suitable means of transport in good time. The municipality joined forces with Leaseplan and Zeeuw en Zeeuw for this pilot.
Clean and healthy air
The Hague wants to be a clean and healthy city where it is pleasant to live, work and recreate. Clean air is a prerequisite for this. Logistics causes dirty air and CO2 emissions. At the same time, transport and services are of course necessary in the city. That is why The Hague opts for clean and efficient logistics, according to the municipality.
