Again Uber drivers drove in a long demonstrative procession to the cabinet of Brussels Prime Minister Rudi Vervoort. He had threatened Friday that Uber drivers with Flemish or Walloon licenses are not welcome in Brussels and would be fined. According to the organization of VVC drivers, several vehicles belonging to drivers with non-Brussels permits have already been seized. Almost every day there is a demonstration by either Uber drivers or taxi drivers with the associated traffic congestion.

According to the trade magazine Passenger Transport, the taxi drivers of the Belgian Taxi Federation (FeBeT) demonstrated and disgruntled taxi drivers from the BTF stopped at Vervoort's cabinet and in turn caused traffic nuisance. The FeBeT drivers wanted more checks on Uber drivers. It stings them – just like their colleagues from the BTF, that Uber is tolerated in the Belgian capital until the new taxi plan is ready (summer this year), although the Council of State recently ruled that Uber has been working illegally in Brussels since 2013. The taxi drivers, who believe that the new temporary tolerance construction with regard to Uber has been put together with 'sticky plasters', protested against the many Uber drivers who drive in Brussels with Walloon or Flemish permits.

As if this were not enough, Brussels VVC drivers demonstrated at Uber's headquarters in Etterbeek on Wednesday to give Brussels drivers (again) access to the Flemish market (which includes the Brussels airport) and to promote that market in Brussels. limited to drivers with Brussels licenses.

On Friday, Vervoort threatened to withdraw the (temporary) recognition of Uber (an emergency ordinance) "if it turns out that Uber willfully allows Flemish and Walloon drivers to drive in Brussels." Vervoort repeated this the same day in the Brussels parliament.

He added that if Uber willfully allows Uber drivers with Flemish and Walloon permits to drive in Brussels, it will revoke the provisional recognition of the entire Uber platform. “We warned Uber about this.”

Flemish and Walloon drivers now risk fines. Many political parties are now afraid that many Uber drivers will no longer have an income.

On Thursday evening, things became very heated when the police checked an Uber driver with a Flemish permit at the Bois de la Cambre. Soon, several Uber drivers came to assist their colleague. In the end, the police were able to confiscate the Uber vehicle.
