Last year 15.337 new motorcycles were registered. That is a plus of 4,9 percent compared to the 14.622 new units from the previous year. And that was already an increase of the same order: +4,7 percent. This is apparent from the sales figures of BOVAG, RAI Association and data supplier RDC.
The new motorcycle continues to enjoy growing popularity. Almost 5 percent more new motorcycles were sold for the second year in a row. Not as many motorcycles have been registered since 2008 as in 2021. BOVAG and RAI Association attribute this increase to the structural need for individual transport.
USED
The interest in used motorcycles from the specialist trade is stable: 52.265 against 52.175 in 2020. The trade in used motorcycles between private individuals decreased by almost 6 percent: 135.885 against 144.254 a year earlier. A possible explanation for this is, on the one hand, that private individuals are more often than before seeking the security of the specialist trade. And on the other hand, private individuals are less inclined to sell their current motorcycle, because they use it more (again), according to BOVAG.
