The Gelderland shared taxi service has been awarded to Qarin. Preparations for the introduction of haltetaxiRRReis can now start. This form of flexible transport will be available to all travelers from April 3, 2022. According to Jan van der Meer, deputy public transport, the award for the bus stop is a great milestone. In this time when transporters and their employees and the government have to do everything they can to keep public transport running, we are investing in the future. The shared taxi service connects people in Gelderland with public transport.

"This gives us an important flexible link for traveling with the transport system. We are thus investing in healthy and strong public transport that also ensures good accessibility to rural areas. I wish Qarin and all employees good luck”, said van der Meer.

Award

The European tender was awarded on the basis of the development of the bus stop taxi transport concept. In addition, it was possible to score on all kinds of aspects, in which the needs of the travelers were central. For example, the ease with which the traveler can plan and pay for the trip is paramount. The short waiting time was also an important criterion in the tender. The province relies on it Qarin to have found a good and professional partner who has the willingness, energy and vision to further develop the stop taxi concept into a flexible and coherent public transport system. The contract has a value of 2 million euros per year.

“Qarin's vision is to achieve an integrated system in which all mobility providers work together, in order to strengthen the entire chain of the customer's journey. This assignment fits in seamlessly with this. Qarin is proud to be able to develop HaltetaxiRRReis together with the province. It is an innovative concept that is a nice addition to public transport in the province.”

before and after transport of public transport

Pre- and post-transport is often done on foot or by bicycle. The shared taxi is a good alternative form of transport. Sometimes travelers share the taxi, with the bus and additional stops forming the connection between the shared taxi and public transport. The stop taxi is a shared taxi that will travel from stop to stop in areas where there is no 'regular' bus (with fixed timetable) or a train. In addition, the bus stop runs from the bus stop to the bus stop/taxi stop or to the train station within a radius of 15 km when the local bus or the 'regular bus' no longer runs. The bus stop can be used by people who are in a wheelchair or who have other disabilities, but who want to and can travel independently by regular public transport.
