Not participating in this sales day, according to Petra Kok, spokeswoman for TUI Netherlands, is commercial masochism and inconvenient to say the least. On Friday 26 November it's that time again, a day of stunt prices and crazy discounts. Companies are doing everything they can to make the power of that one day last as long as possible. Even up to eleven days of so-called Black Friday-style discounts under the name 'singles week' with the main aim of convincing the consumer to buy.

"But to participate very quickly in this month in which sustainability and care for the world are central is also something."

According to the spokeswoman, not only the people sitting in Glasgow need to make wise decisions, but all of us. And TUI does that too, many politicians could have followed an example who came flying in with a private jet. Travel remains popular. It makes the world bigger and broadens your view. But future generations should also be able to continue to enjoy beautiful journeys. Together we must be a little more economical with the world and therefore also a little more conscious when traveling.

Fair friday

On Friday 26 November, TUI only wants to showcase those journeys that are under the FairTravel fall, so travel with support for the local community and economy, a stay in one of the 800 hotels in the TUI range with an eco-label and an investment in making mobility more sustainable.

According to Kok, you should not only talk about what you want to contribute, but also do something. It's unrealistic to think we're not going to travel at all. So later we travel better and maybe a little less. The past year has also brought about a lot of innovation, creativity and reflection. TUI has used the time to carefully map out where and how holiday travel can make a greater contribution to people and the environment at the holiday destinations. And that has led to the introduction from Fair Travel, (h) fair on vacation.

sustainable holiday

During a sustainable holiday you will not lack in any way in luxury, comfort, class and style. Everything you would expect on a 'normal' vacation is here too. But certain things have been thought about here and very conscious choices have been made. For example, the fruit for breakfast comes from the orchards just outside the village. Also the slice of lemon in your cocktail. The atmospheric lighting in the restaurant works on solar energy and most of the wine comes from winegrowers in the region. You can sometimes visit the vineyards together with your local guide, who they have trained in the TUI Academy.

By booking this holiday you also contribute to more sustainable forms of transport. Both by land and in the air. Investing together in biofuel for their aircraft and in electric road transport. If you book a fair travel holiday with TUI, that includes a contribution of 2 pp and TUI doubles this to 4 euros. That may not sound like much, but if you add up all these contributions in one year, they can invest seriously and structurally in a sustainable future.
