Air France KLM Martinair (AFKLMP) Cargo recently introduced the Cargo SAF Program, which enables customers - forwarders and shippers - to reduce CO₂ emissions from shipments. By participating in this program, they invest in the development and use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and thus contribute to a cleaner future of air freight transport. It is the first program in the cargo sector with which an airline and its customers are structurally collaborating in this field.

“It has been 8 years since we introduced the KLM Corporate Biofuel Program and since then we have been steadily building an emission-free future with a number of customers. I am proud that we can now also offer our freight customers the same structural cooperation. With Fly Responsibly that KLM introduced last year, we are committed to creating a more sustainable future for aviation. But only when the whole industry works together can real progress be made. Not only in the Netherlands, but also in a European and worldwide context. The construction of a SAF factory, participation in the Action Agenda for Train and Aviation and the Clean Skies for Tomorrow coalition are good examples of this ”, says Pieter Elbers - KLM President and CEO.

“COVID-19 does not diminish our ambitions and efforts in the field of sustainability. In fact, the path taken will be accelerated. The fleet's rejuvenation continues and our ambitions in the field of emissions and sustainable fuel have been sharpened. We cordially invite our corporate customers and those of the cargo division to take the lead in the development of SAF”Said Pieter Elbers - KLM President and CEO in the above press release on the KLM website.
