Prime Minister Rutte and Minister De Jonge gave an explanation and answered questions about the continuation of the partial lockdown and perhaps the most important question of what we can do with Christmas this year. That is a hard blow for ourselves, for the hospitality industry and for other sectors. The conclusion is that we make the best possible use of the Christmas period by staying at home as much as possible and also by following the rules.

no relaxation, on the contrary

Things are not going well in the Netherlands. Mobility is far too high, traffic jams are on the rise again and working from home is increasingly becoming a thing of the past. When everyone visits the shopping streets and visits each other in busy places such as Ikea and hardware stores, you give the virus maximum space to strike. Today Wouter Koolmees, Eric Wiebes and Wopke Hoekstra will give a press conference about the further approach to the support packages. And in any case, it is a good idea to pick up your Christmas dinner or have it delivered by your favorite restaurant.

I do not have the luxury to threaten, I only have the task with Hugo de Jonge to tell how things are going. And it says ... The numbers just aren't right.

During the Christmas holidays, the Krajicek Foundation and the Cruyff Foundation will organize winter games. Furthermore, it is still the case that young people up to the age of eighteen can train as a team at their sports clubs. The cabinet is also considering a trial with a theater performance with a larger audience or, for example, a trial with a local football match with larger groups of supporters in the stadium.

vaccination

We are far from there yet. And yet, we are also on the eve of a new phase in this crisis: the vaccination phase. Vaccination is the ultimate way out of this crisis. The cabinet has opted to vaccinate vulnerable people and their healthcare providers first. And that starts with the people who work in the nursing home, followed by the people who work in care for the disabled, home care, the residents of nursing homes and institutions for people with disabilities. Then it is the turn of other vulnerable groups - such as people over 60 and people with a medical risk - and other care workers, and then the rest of society follows.
