Minister Cora van Nieuwenhuizen (Infrastructure and Water Management) recently symbolically handed over the first registration plate for (agricultural) construction vehicles in Bergschenhoek. The plate, with license plate TBB-01-B, was presented to Aldert van der Spek, director at Van der Spek Groen, Grond en Infra. The RDW reports this on their website.

From January 1, 2021, a registration obligation for (agricultural) construction vehicles. This means that agricultural or forestry tractors, limited speed motor vehicles (MMBS), agricultural or forestry trailers and interchangeable towed equipment put into service in the Netherlands before 1 January 2021 must be registered. If the vehicle is driven faster than 25 km / h, it must have a license plate.

As of January 1, 2025, all registered (agricultural) construction vehicles are obliged to carry a registration plate. Vehicles taken into service after December 31, 2020 must be assessed at one of our inspection stations before initial registration.

MOT requirement and speed limit up
(Agricultural) construction tractors on wheels that can drive faster than 40 kilometers per hour must also be inspected for MOT. This MOT requirement will start on 1 May 2021. The registration and number plate requirement will be combined with an increase in the maximum speed for construction and agricultural vehicles. This maximum speed will, only if the construction speed of the vehicle allows it, from 25 to 40 kilometers per hour.
