Airline EasyJet, recently announced in a press release that its cabin baggage policy will change from February 10, 2021. The new policy means that all customers will only be able to bring on board one small piece of hand baggage (max. 45x36x20 cm) free of charge that is the chair should fit in front of you.

Customers who have booked a front seat or with extra legroom can bring an oversized carry-on bag (max. 56 x 45 x 25 cm) on board, which must fit in the top of the overhead compartment. EasyJet Plus cardholders and customers with the FLEXI fare will also continue to be provided with an oversized carry-on bag when booking, depending on the space on board.

The limited storage space at the top of planes has meant that customers cannot always be sure to have their carry-on baggage with them, so for those who want security, booking a front seat or extra legroom is sufficient. The new policy will also reduce waiting times during boarding and other related delays that occur as a result of placing excess cabin baggage in the hold.

“Punctuality is important to our customers and we know that leaving their bags in the hold at the gate due to limited space on board can cause delays and be frustrating for them too. Our new policy will improve boarding and punctuality for everyone and give our customers certainty about what they have on board. Customers who already have a booking will be offered the hands-free product for free from 10 February, so that they can travel with their hand luggage at no extra cost. For families, we will continue to offer a number of options so that they can bring additional items for free so that families can travel easily and affordably when flying with us, ”said Robert Carey, Chief Commercial & Customer Officer at EasyJet.
