The consequences of the corona crisis are causing society to change. A big change is working from home, and many companies are actually discovering that working from home is not that bad at all. Companies try to respond to how society is now. Travel organization TUI recently announced that they are going to launch TUI Workation. Many people have been working from home for several months now. And it is expected that this will take a while. Working from home has objections, but a big advantage is that employees can organize their time flexibly and are not tied to a location. A new environment is often a stimulus for creativity and productivity. Leading and innovative companies are therefore looking for a way to keep their employees engaged and motivated. That is why travel organization TUI combines flexibility and inspiration with the introduction of TUI Workation; the perfect combination of work and vacation without taking vacation days.

Various studies have shown that working from home pleases the Dutch employee: no traffic jams, less travel time and being able to organize your time flexibly. And in recent months it has become clear that productivity does not have to be a problem for home workers. But there are also disadvantages, such as the blurring of work and private time, working too many hours, missing colleagues to spar with and promoting each other's creativity. With stress and even an increased risk of burnout as a result. Psychologists therefore agree; Working from home is not always good for mental health.

Frans Leenaars, Chief Marketing Officer TUI Western Region: 'The TUI Workation offers employees every opportunity to be as productive as at home. But then in an environment that inspires and at the same time brings peace and relaxation. Because how wonderful it is to take a dip in the pool, take a walk on the beach or relax in the hotel spa after an intensive working day. But the conversations with other Workationers also bring inspiration, connection and new insights. This concept is interesting for both employee and employer. I am 100% convinced that it keeps employees motivated and engaged, offers space for relaxation and thus contributes to mental well-being. '

Work and recharge your batteries
It is therefore important to pay attention to the mental well-being of the home workers. TUI developed the TUI Workation concept especially for this purpose; combining work and vacation. Working in an inspiring environment, at a well-equipped workplace where you can enjoy the relaxed holiday feeling after a productive working day. Or where you simply get new energy from a beautiful environment and from conversations with other Workers. This could be colleagues, your family members or people from a completely different industry who are also there at Workation. For the TUI Workation, the travel organization selected a number of suitable and comfortable accommodations at home and abroad.

Workation lab
Initially, the concept will mainly be deployed in collaboration with companies. It is further elaborated and further developed in a so-called Workation Lab. The first pilot trip left for the Algarve yesterday. Employees of seven different Dutch and Belgian companies are currently staying at the TUI BLUE Falésia hotel in Olhos d'Agua, Portugal. They are busy with their daily work there, at the same time they test the facilities and give direct feedback to the accompanying supervisor of the Workation Lab.

Locations
In the start-up phase, TUI offers Workations in the Netherlands in collaboration with Droomparken and at a limited number of foreign destinations. Of course, the current travel advice is taken into account. The concept is currently being rolled out mainly in collaboration with companies, but a Workation can also be booked individually.
