In more and more European countries there are revivals of the coronavirus, the numbers of infection are growing again. Many people are going to travel again during this holiday period and it seems that since the 1 July relaxations announced by Prime Minister Mark Rutte, many people no longer take it too seriously as far as the corona rules are concerned. Keeping a meter and a half away turns out to be more difficult than expected. Are people tired of the corona rules or what is it that people no longer really adhere to the rules and more people are infected again?

People walk in large numbers at the fair in Tilburg, and in the province of Hillegom in South Holland, a corona infection broke out in 23 people after visiting a local café. The GGD fears that several hundred people have been infected by visitors to this café. Since the beginning of June, several flights have already landed at Eindhoven Airport with a total of 11 people on board who were infected with the corona virus. During the same period, 38 flights landed at Schiphol with at least one person on board with corona. It seems to get completely out of hand again.

'It has already been shown in the Netherlands that this personal responsibility does not work, so it is necessary to maintain it. If we do our best, we can chase the virus out of our country. However, that will not work if we come together en masse. In the Netherlands we are particularly dependent on the one and a half measure, because mouth masks are not used much here. Therefore, when infected visitors come to the carnival, they are very likely to spread the virus. Especially among young people. ” Virologist Osterhaus explained this in radio program Wakker.

In Belgium, the number of infections with the coronavirus has also increased. The Belgian government calls on the population to adhere strictly to the rules of corona. "Let's not be crazy, then we can turn the tide together," says Yves Stevens of the Belgian corona crisis center. Coronavirus outbreaks have also occurred in various parts of Spain after visits to bars and clubs. Bars and clubs are closed again in various places. The Beaches in Spain are also very busy, the police previously closed several beaches because it was too busy. In France, the number of corona infections is also increasing again, as from this week, mouth masks are therefore mandatory in all shops and all other closed public areas. The masks had to be worn in public transport in France. Nevertheless, the travel advice for Belgium, Spain (with the exception of certain areas) and France is taken from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs today on yellow. (This advice can change per day). Is it waiting for a second wave?
