Climate neutral, tailor-made, comfortable for the doctor and optimal care for every patient. Anyone who comes across the new GP car from MAI Medical Services BV has seen something special. It is the very first fully electric GP car in the country. More will follow soon. Although electric cars are now very common, an electric GP car is a bit more complicated to realize. In addition to the battery for the car, a second battery is needed for the equipment that a GP needs during his visits. This could include measuring equipment, diagnostic equipment and a storage and cooling option for medication. Because future users each have their own specific wishes, every GP car is tailor-made.

General practitioner posts
The GP car is intended for the transportation of the visiting GP doctor in the evening, night and weekend hours. In various regions, MAI's GP service is used for this. The doctors are brought to their patients quickly and safely from a GP post. MAI does this with modern GP cars that are equipped with the latest means of communication and medical equipment. They are brought by experienced drivers who also have medical knowledge and can therefore assist during (emergency) visits. The use of an electric GP car makes the work of the GP even more pleasant.

Benefits
The electric GP car offers several advantages. EVER firstly opted for an electric GP car to be able to work climate neutral. Not only because it considers it important, but also to meet the wishes of many GPs. The climate is the main advantage, but there are additional benefits for both the general practitioner and the patient. After all, an electric car runs almost silently, which is pleasant for the doctor but also for the neighborhood if a GP has to make an (emergency) visit at night. If someone is afraid that an electric car is less reliable than a petrol car: the new GP car is a Kia e-Niro with a range of 452 kilometers. More than enough, therefore, to be able to respond quickly to patients regionally.

Enthusiasm
The first electric GP car is currently being tested in practice. The first reactions are without exception positive, so nothing stands in the way of MAI switching all GPs to electric transport in the long term. Currently, several GP outlets across the country are using MAI's GP service. Nico Herfkens, general manager of MAI Medical Services, expects many GPs to switch to electric transport in the coming years.

“The environment has everyone's attention and the plans have been received with enthusiasm by future users. If you want to work climate neutral, you will opt for the electric GP car. This is the future. ”
