The economic and social consequences of the corona crisis are now being seriously felt for everyone in passenger transport and the euphoria that was there due to noises of 80% continued payment when contract transport stopped, is becoming more and more dampened as this is increasingly under pressure despite the 'LOBBYfrom the trade association and unions.

KNV takes action too late

Many positive reactions from research within the members to what KNV does for and communicates with its members, but also considerable criticism that KNV takes action too late. Members demand more visibility of the sector in the media.

KNV has been coming to members with the same story for months. Research has shown that entrepreneurs find it strange that the various industry associations or catering magnates are sometimes seen on TV every day to express a cry for help to politicians.

"We KNV see too little in the media or talk programs such as Op1, Goedemorgen Nederland (WNL) or Beau (RTL4), despite the industry accounting for an annual turnover of approximately 1 billion euros, of which approximately 700.000 euros is healthcare transport. The media landscape is larger than your own website and newsletter. ”

childcare organizations

For example, the BMK (Branch Association for Social Childcare) decided not to comply with the opcalled for 80% to continue to pay and decided not to call nationwide among the member organizations for such compensation. The assessment lies with the childcare organization itself and carriers can appeal individually to the organization with which they have concluded agreements. It is up to the organization itself to go along with this on the basis of their own financial situation.

“The childcare organizations have seen part of the turnover disappear in recent months and although there is a compensation scheme, they also have to repay the parents of that amount. In fact, there has been a (significant) loss of income in many organizations recently, and some of the organizations indicate that they are struggling to keep their heads above water this year, ”said the BMK in a response.

UWV does not participate in the 80% payment

The UWV also announced that it would not go along with the 80% continued payment. The website states that the UWV will not or cannot take additional measures for taxi companies, despite the special circumstances. UWV finances directly to the customers and only for the trips made. They see no room to respond to this in a different way, and therefore accept the request to continue to pay 80% for these journeys not made.

Municipalities, healthcare institutions, insurers and other clients must continue to pay for canceled journeys in healthcare transport during June, July and August to prevent imminent bankruptcies in healthcare transport. Trade unions FNV and CNV Vakmensen and KNV make this urgent appeal.
