DPA news agency has announced to various media that airline Lufthansa receives state aid from the German government. However, the European Commission and various other parties have not yet agreed, they have yet to approve the aid package. This will happen quickly according to Chancellor Angela Merkel. The government is freeing up € 9 billion to save airline Lufthansa from destruction. The corona crisis has put the airline in serious financial difficulties. A large proportion of Lufthansa's aircraft are grounded due to the corona crisis, although cargo flights are still flying.

Airline company Lufthansa employs approximately 138.000 employees, as a result of which 10 thousand jobs are at risk due to this crisis. There is hardly any income and the costs simply continue. Nobody knows how this will work out. In exchange for state aid to Lufthansa, the German government will receive 20 percent of Lufthansa's shares. The German government will also have 2 positions on the Lufthansa supervisory board. The Airline must also do something about the environmental emissions in their company, for example by using cleaner fuel and airplanes.

"We are now taking the measures necessary for Lufthansa's company, taxpayer and employees," said a statement.

State aid negotiations between the German government and Lufthansa have been going on for weeks. Angela Merkel said last week that a decision would soon be made on this matter. Switzerland has previously granted aid to the Swiss branch of Lufthansa, said it received EUR 1,2 billion in loans. Not only airline Lufthansa is in financial difficulties. KLM previously received another support from the Dutch government of 2 to 4 billion euros. And Air France-KLM has received EUR 7 billion in aid from the French government. In short, the corona crisis causes many financial problems in our society. The survival of many companies worldwide depends on a thread.
