As a result of one of the measures of the RIVM, the taxi sector has started massively adapting the taxi to monitor the safe distance between driver and passenger within the vehicle. Several companies came up with solutions for the taxi sector from professional plexiglass partitions to completely loose plastic partitions.

In recent months, the RDW has been largely absent from quickly determining guidelines and due to its silence, it has now caused a lot of unrest in the market. If you want to use a vehicle for taxi transport, it must meet the requirements for a taxi. The RDW assesses these requirements and must register the vehicle as a taxi in the vehicle registration register.

Companies offer a completely customized corona car screen, made of transparent PetG, unbreakable and flame-retardant material. Other companies install solutions, including tie wraps, that melt away in a minimum of time in a fire. Plexiglass that was sold as a by-product for years suddenly plays the leading role at extortionate prices.

insurance and inspection

Until the possible guidelines of the RDW or Ministry are known, there is normal insurance coverage. The insurer does, however, assume that the screen does not obstruct the driver's view and operation of the car and that it is attached in such a way that it cannot fly through the car in the event of a collision and can cause injury to the driver or passenger.

Insurance companies can also rely on the inspection requirements for determining the standard coverage. If the construction of a vehicle changes, the RDW may have to inspect the vehicle. If you have a Construction Change Approval (EGWC), you do not need to have the vehicle inspected. You can then draw up a conversion statement for each vehicle in accordance with the specifications of the issued Construction Change Approval (GWC).

So be careful with what you have mounted in the car. If RDW or the Ministry does issue guidelines and the installed screen does not comply, the screen will have to be replaced by a copy that does comply with these guidelines. Months after the coronavirus outbreak, there is no solution that meets a CE mark.

installation companies cover themselves

Many installation companies feel the mood and cover themselves for installing the corona car screen. When you purchase the product, they assume that you have received approval from your insurance and / or that you take responsibility for its use. The supplier cannot be held responsible for the use of these products.
