Small TCA competitor ViaVan, which started in Amsterdam two years ago, has temporarily shut down its activities. Due to the current health crisis, the ViaVan service was temporarily paused, says an email the ViaVan drivers received.

According to it FD the company was not available for comment. It was predictable that the taxi industry will be hit hard by the corona measures. Now that Schiphol has stopped and people are not going out, there are hardly any customers left. The relaxation of the measures will do little to change this, drivers fear. Working from home remains the norm and major events are still prohibited.

Taxi central TCA brought the monthly contribution down to just under € 150, more than half. Delayed payments may be refunded later.

“Our financial compensation to our drivers thus increases to around € 350.000 to € 500.00,” director Hedy Borreman of the Amsterdam Taxi Center explains to Financieel Dagblad.
