The economic impact of the corona crisis is forcing entrepreneurs to think differently. This struggle must be won together, which results in special initiatives. This created the unique collaboration between star restaurant Brienen aan de Maas, Verstraaten Group, OTTO Work Force and Munckhof Group. Forces are joined and on Easter Saturday more than 1000 people throughout the Netherlands were provided with luxury asparagus packages.

strong together in the region

Where it is normally peak season for restaurant owner René Brienen at this time of the year, his doors are now also necessarily closed. Alternatively, he offers luxury asparagus packages for the home. At first he was not yet convinced of this, but thanks to the client and fellow entrepreneur Frank van Gool of OTTO Work Force, he put his shoulders to the wheel.

And successfully; over 1000 parcels were delivered last weekend. Verstraaten and Munckhof jointly took care of the complete logistics process. In addition to the four companies mentioned, Martens Asperges, Smedts Wijnimport and Boom Transport were also involved in the project.

from passenger transport to delivery service

The flag also hangs differently for passenger transport company Munckhof during the corona crisis. As a result of all measures, passenger transport has largely come to a standstill, which of course also has an economic impact. That is why Munckhof uses all its capacity, including 1300 vehicles and 1500 drivers, to support others.

Fortunately, the match with restaurant Brienen aan de Maas was quickly found. Last weekend, 20 Munckhof vehicles and 5 Verstraaten vehicles drove a total of 5400 kilometers to deliver 1040 parcels throughout the Netherlands and a part of Germany.

“Although the impact of the corona crisis is tangible, it also brings very nice initiatives. It is special to see how this collaboration was successfully realized in no time. The solidarity can be felt by everyone. That's great!" said Tom Roefs, General Manager Munckhof Group

Despite the fact that the company OTTO Work Force has more turnover during this time, General Manager Frank van Gool sees it as his duty to look for the local connection right now:

“Where possible, we try to help entrepreneurs who are having a harder time today. We have a warm heart for this special initiative, which is why we have purchased some 550 packages and have them delivered as gifts to our staff. ”

Star chef and entrepreneur René Brienen only praises this commitment:

“It is great to experience how the initiative is supported by everyone, from logistics parties to the asparagus grower and from suppliers to customers. This would never have happened without them. In recent days I have really seen the power of collaboration. These entrepreneurs have their heart in the right place. ”
