Several experts have made recommendations for a gradual return to normal daily life before the corona crisis. Primary schools must start over with a lot of disabilities and the wearing of face masks in local transport to the schools should be mandatory. One thing is certain, everyday life does not come back overnight. The basic agreement is that one should always keep a distance of one and a half meters if one does not belong to one household.

one and a half meters away and requirement of a face mask

"How do you implement the measure to keep a distance of one and a half meters apart in the school transport of school children without frequently driving up and down?", the sector calls responsible for school transport.

The transport industry is also severely affected by the corona crisis. Taxi companies must also respect the RIVM measures and consider the 'new' way of working after the corona crisis. The tender in which the transport is currently being driven was not calculated on this basis. School transport can only become more expensive as a result of the new regulations. And yet we must all think in solutions.

Scientists also argue for a requirement for a mouth mask during all transport and beyond. Virologist Helmut Fickenscher is convinced that there is no reason to give up protective measures. We will most likely end up in an overload of hospitals and ICs again in a short time. The fact that the number of infections is no longer increasing so much is simply the result of strict protective measures in recent weeks.

"In the future, everyone should wear such a face mask and wear it where the minimum distance is not respected."

The Dutch Ministry of Education currently does not want to say much about the scenarios being discussed. Some parties consider guidelines and practical tools because every school is different. The question is whether such a thing can be arranged centrally. There are many concerns among teachers about their own health, that of their partner or their own children. This concern is also the case with school transport among taxi drivers who come into contact with the parents and carers of the children.

do not stare blindly on the May holiday

Problem is that the RIVM study has yet to wait until the cabinet decides what to do after 28 April. That is why it already sounds cautious that one should not stare blindly on the May holiday. It may well be that it is decided to keep the schools closed for a while.

Social, cultural and sporting events should "gradually become possible again, depending on the possible spatial distance and the contact intensity of those involved," the researchers further advised.
