The RDW has restarted, together with several recognized companies, the testing of a temporary procedure with which vehicles can be registered again. Vehicles from abroad that have already been sold in the Netherlands are the first to be eligible for this procedure. They are provided with a Dutch registration.

A week after the closure of the first RDW inspection station, space has been created to look at expanding our services. The most affected companies in the sector were examined for this.

In consultation with the industry, a working method has been developed in which physical identification of the vehicles is temporarily unnecessary for registration. If the experiences with the tests are positive, this temporary service is also possible for other recognized companies.

The new working method is intended for RDW-recognized companies. The required documents are supplied digitally centrally and subsequently assessed by RDW employees of an inspection station. Afterwards, the applicant will be notified by email that the RDW process has been completed. In specific cases, a physical examination will follow. The RDW can also carry out random checks after registration.

This week is used to test with this service. If the results are positive, this temporary service will also be possible for other recognized companies. We expect more news about this at the end of this week.

The APK service is currently running as normal. This means that, when an approval holder is open, the APK can simply be executed. It is good to hear from various industry parties that garages also think along with the owner by collecting and delivering vehicles, for example.
