For many self-employed people, it is looking forward to the counter and the first opportunity to request support from the government. Due to the consequences of the corona crisis, many entrepreneurs have been in serious trouble. According to the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG), municipalities can choose to give an advance.

They are eligible for social assistance through a simplified test. From today, counters will open in large cities in the Netherlands where self-employed people who are in financial difficulties due to the corona crisis can apply for assistance. Among other things, the partner income test and the viability test will lapse. Applicants are now being assessed according to the revised guidelines.

However, the details of the counter and the regulation will still take a few weeks because the emergency law has yet to be approved by the Council of State. Rotterdam previously announced that the number of self-employed people who want to apply for social assistance benefits has increased tenfold in a week. Thousands of applications have already been received in Amsterdam. Municipalities that already stick their necks out for the self-employed are still doing so on their own initiative.

Getting the multibillion-dollar support to freelancers and companies in the right place is an arduous task that the already troubled tax authorities and UWV are receiving. As you know, both government agencies are already under heavy pressure. The House of Representatives was like one research started to the persistent problems at the UWV and the Tax and Customs Administration, the implementing organizations that in recent years have elaborately devoted themselves to the tasks assigned to them.
