Frontier workers in vital sectors and with a crucial occupation can cross the Belgian border faster with a vignette. The vignette serves to prevent border workers in vital sectors and with crucial professions from being delayed at the border and can only be used by them.

Since Wednesday 18 March, Belgium has banned non-essential travel abroad, including the Netherlands. The movement of goods and services is still permitted across the border. Frontier workers and others who have to cross the border can still do this. In doing so, they must take into account specific rules.

The Belgian authorities actively monitor and several border crossings are closed. The vignette has been introduced to prevent cross-border workers in vital sectors and with crucial professions from being delayed in inspections. This vignette will be made after consultation of Minister of Justice and Security Grapperhaus and Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations Knops with their Belgian colleague, Minister of the Interior and Security Pieter De Crem.

Violation of the prohibition of non-essential travel is a criminal offense. The Belgian authorities are actively monitoring compliance with this prohibition. Using a vignette based on incorrect information is forgery. This is also a criminal offense.
