Airline KLM wants to apply for working time reduction for all 33.000 employees in the Netherlands deletes up to 2000 jobs. The consequences of the corona crisis can be felt immediately. KLM is in serious trouble because of the decision of the US President and the closure of airspace in several other countries.

The airline also saves tens of millions of euros by postponing the profit-sharing scheme from April to October. The airline also immediately reduces investments by 300 million to 400 million euros.

KLM also wants to suspend the payment of variable remuneration to the management. The company had 2018 employees in 33.000.

"When I look at where we are now on Friday compared to where we were on Monday, an incredible amount has happened in five days," said KLM CEO Pieter Elbers in the video.

In the meantime, Air France-KLM has turned to the French government for support to save jobs. For example, requests have been made to postpone certain tax payments and to reduce various social security contributions.
