Since 2007, the Bundesverband Taxi & Mietwagen (BTM) has coordinated taxi transport for all of Germany for employees of the Deutsche Bahn (DB) and in the event of breakdowns and train cancellations. In the autumn of last year, the DB issued a new European tender for the collaboration that ended at the end of February, which was again won by the taxi organization for the replacement train transport as well.

The organization does not hide that the negotiations were hard, but also fair. The term of the new contract is 3 years plus an extension of 2 years. The decisive factor was the high degree of coordination of the taxi organization and the ability to quickly provide taxi services anywhere in Germany, including sparsely populated areas.

In the new contract for replacement train transport, the following prices apply outside areas with tariff provisions: € 0,90 per km for regular taxis and € 1,02 per taxi van. These prices are ex-VAT. From March 2022, an automatic price adjustment, based on a special mathematical model, will take effect. The settlement of the well-known DB vouchers for taxi rides is again done via the larger taxi centers.

It is noteworthy that the taxi organization has pledged to assist the railway company in developing a digital order and payment model based on the apps of Taxi Deutschland, Taxi.eu, Cab4Me. These are linked to the AirPlus system, which uses the DB for internal billing.

In the Netherlands, these replacement train transport services, divided into two lots, are provided by Jan de Wit and transvision after the award of a tender from 2018. Logistics uses the latest central Pitane Mobility software to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
