Following the developments surrounding the coronavirus and with safety as number one priority, UITP (the International Association of Public Transport) and Messe Karlsruhe have taken the decision to IT TRANS to postpone. The IT-TRANS event, the largest of its kind and entirely dedicated to digitization in public transport, was to be held in Karlsruhe, Germany from March 3-5, 2020.

“We followed the situation every day and listened carefully to the information and advice from the local authorities. The safety and wellbeing of all our exhibitors, delegates and visitors is always our top priority, which is why we believe this is the right decision for everyone involved, ”said UITP Secretary General Mohamed Mezghani and Britta Wirtz, Director of Messe Karlsruhe.

Questions and concerns about the health of IT-TRANS participants have increased significantly last week as media reports about the coronavirus have become more alarming. Globally, more and more countries or local authorities are considering imposing or tightening restrictions on international travel or for the organization of major events.

In light of these extreme circumstances, it was concluded that it was no longer possible to guarantee a safe environment expected by the stakeholders, and it was therefore decided to postpone the event.
