With the rush-hour intercity, the travel time from Alkmaar to Leiden (and vv) in 2015 was 1 hour and 2 minutes, and NS reduced it to 2020 minutes in 55.

For the Alkmaar - Rotterdam route, travel time during rush hours has been reduced from 1 hour and 37 minutes in 2015 to 1 hour and 29 minutes in 2020. For the Alkmaar - The Hague route, travel time has been reduced from 1 hour and 16 minutes. in 2015 to 1 hour and 8 minutes in 2020.

NS is responsible for drawing up the timetable on the main rail network, including the consideration of driving sprinters or intercity trains or driving a direct connection.1 NS aims to bring passengers to their destinations faster and more reliably. . 

The Minister ensures that the NS adheres to the agreements in the transport concession. For example, NS must tailor its offer to transport demand and consult with decentralized authorities and consumer organizations, in which wishes can be addressed on specific routes.
