On Thursday December 5, twelve organizations from Leuven and Flemish Brabant renewed their plan for sustainable solutions for the mobility problem in and around the Haasrode business park. The partners continue to focus on better bicycle facilities and an expansion of the public transport offer. It concerns a continuation of the original letter of intent from 2016 and an extension with 3 additional partners.

Mobility in the region has been a problem for some time. There is a strong dependence on the car to reach the business park. Until 2016, more than 90% of the journeys to and from the business park were made by car. The arrival of two educational institutions in 2016 made the business park once again an important attraction.

Once the school year starts again, around 10.000 employees and 3.500 students make the daily transfer to and from the business park in Haasrode. In March 2016, nine of the current twelve participating organizations therefore kept this partnership above baptism. By focusing on different and more sustainable transport methods, the partners want to solve the mobility problem and create a viable situation for companies, employees, students, visitors and local residents.

The nine original organizations are Voka - Chamber of Commerce Flemish Brabant, city of Leuven, Interleuven, province of Flemish Brabant, De Lijn Flemish Brabant, Roads and Traffic Agency Flemish Brabant, POM Flemish Brabant, UC Leuven-Limburg en CVO Volt.
