Mercedes-Benz is introducing Select & Drive in order to respond even better to the individual and ever-changing mobility requirements of consumers. An umbrella brand name for all Mercedes-Benz financial products and mobility services, which respond to a broad social trend towards renting, leasing or sharing products. Select & Drive offers the possibility to develop a mobility solution that best suits the mobility needs of that moment and completely relieves the customer. He just has to make a choice and is then immediately mobile.

Mercedes-Benz is currently undergoing a fundamental transformation from car manufacturer to provider of mobility services. This business strategy for future mobility is bundled under the term CASE: C from Connected, A from Autonomous, S from Shared & Services and E from Electric & Emission-free. The goal is to provide customers with intuitive mobility by intelligently combining all four strategic CASE pillars. In this way, Mercedes-Benz wants to play an active role in the rapidly changing and complex automotive industry.

Increase in lease products

For years, there has been a shift from owning or buying a car to using it. This is also reflected in the demand for private lease cars that has taken off enormously. In 2016, according to figures from the Association of Dutch Car Leasing Companies (VNA), 64.000 private lease cars were driving around. This number increased by 2017 percent to 61 in 103.000 and by 2018 percent to 46 in 150.000. Mercedes-Benz also sees clear growth in its lease products. In particular, the brand with the star notes an increasing popularity in the premium segment and expects a large increase in the number of newly concluded private lease contracts in 2019 compared to 2018.

Select & Drive

The social trend towards renting, leasing or sharing products will make the mobility of the future more flexible than ever before. Select & Drive responds to this, brings all financial services together and eventually offers a wide range of intelligent and emotional mobility solutions. Initially Select & Drive consists of three lease products: operational lease, financial lease and private lease. 

With an operational lease, an entrepreneur pays a fixed amount per month for the right of use of the car and the residual value lies entirely with Mercedes-Benz. At the end of the agreement, the entrepreneur can keep or take over the vehicle in accordance with the previously agreed purchase option. Also with a financial lease, the business customer chooses a fixed amount per month. 

After the final payment has been made, the vehicle becomes the property of the customer. When choosing a private lease, a consumer drives a fixed amount in a Mercedes-Benz. That includes insurance, roadside assistance, road tax, maintenance and repair. The customer only pays for fuel and any fines.

Choosing a mobility solution within Select & Drive is easy and clear. First the vehicle is selected. Subsequently, the lease product with the term, the number of kilometers per year and any additional service components can be selected.

On the occasion of the launch of Select & Drive, Mercedes-Benz is offering attractive rates on the A-Class, GLA and C-Class for private lease and operational lease until 31 December 2019.
