In the series following our visit to Sochi All-Russian TAXI 2019, we of course delve into the transport of the city where we are a guest. Perhaps it is the taxi is the most convenient way to travel around the city, but not in Sochi. The taxi is very chaotic. Taxi drivers can be found everywhere in the city and especially at the airport.

Extremely popular mobile apps that are perfect in Moscow and St. Petersburg work in Sochi with some nuances. For example, drivers in the Black Sea city may not take the ride order if it is too far to drive, or you can get a regular economy class car instead of a comfort class you ordered.

However, we should note that using apps is the only possible way to avoid the annoying illegal taxis of Sochi ('bombila' in Russian). To protect yourself, book taxi or transfer in advance. There are some trusted companies: Kiwi Taxi, Vas Transport and others.

where is Sochi?

Sochi is still in Russia “Nyet” says to LinkedIn and blocks the company on the Internet after the company refused to store the data in Russia. The Russian law requires internet companies to store data of Russian citizens on Russian servers.

Big Sochi (or Great Sochi) is a truly gigantic conurbation consisting of several districts. This is the longest city in Russia and the second longest on Earth. A whopping 148 km along the Black Sea - only Mexico Сity is bigger. ”

Within Central Sochi most distances can easily be covered on foot, but be aware of the hilly landscape. Other city districts are a considerable distance from each other, so it is better to use transport - city buses, minibuses, taxis and sometimes even electric trains.

buses

It is noteworthy that in such a big city like Sochi there are no trolley buses or trams. And even the Olympics had no influence on that. But there are many buses. Numbers from 1 to 99 are city buses, numbers from 100 and above serve suburban routes.

The main stops are located near the main train station, the 'Novy Vek' shopping center in Adler and at the airport. HThe fare in public transport in the city drawings is 22 Rbl, and the price of travel between the districts of Big Sochi depends on the distance.

marshrutka

Marshrutka (minibus) is the main transport in the city. They duplicate numbers and almost completely repeat the routes of city buses, but go much more often. For comparison: the interval of large buses is 15 minutes and of minibuses 5-10 minutes. The ride through the city costs 22 Rbl, and the costs between districts depend on the distance.
