Cummins Inc. will be from Milton Keynes in the UK Next Generation Battery Electric System, including its new low profile battery, will be unveiled for the first time at Busworld Europe 2019 in Brussels. In doing so, they absolutely demonstrate the company's progress in powertrain technology for the European bus market.

During the show, Cummins will showcase the new low-profile battery that is less than 140mm high installed in an 8,9-meter bus. The battery has been specially designed for the European market, but is also available for use in other markets.

This product allows OEMs to meet European requirements for low floors while maintaining a low center of gravity and maximizing the use of unoccupied space. To be offered as part of a wider modular platform, the new low profile battery utilizes the latest cell technology to deliver high energy density and packaging efficiency, marking an important step forward for an accessible zero emission bus design.

"The Next Generation Battery Electric System is an innovative look at Cummins' future product plan for electrified powertrains, ”zegg Julie Furber, Vice President of Electrified Power at Cummins. “While electric vehicles in the public transport sector are gaining momentum, designing batteries with faster charging options and longer range will be a technological breakthrough - in a form that meets legal requirements and at a competitive price. This is a critical step for the industry. ”

The Next Generation Battery Electric System is on display at the Cummins Inc., 802b, from 18 to 23 October in Brussels during Busworld 2019. Our editors will be there and report on this fair.
